Hello, I'm Vishal Kanwar, a results-driven Computer Science graduate with over 3 years of experience in full-stack development. I specialize in crafting robust and scalable web applications, leveraging a strong foundation in Java, JavaScript, and cloud technologies. Currently pursuing a Master's in Computer Science at Arizona State University, I am actively seeking full-time opportunities starting in the summer of 2024.
I created and launched an online learning platform focused on STEM subjects, utilizing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. This was my first freelance project where I handled the complete UI design as well as development of the web application. Designed for kids aged 8 to 16, this platform provides an interactive environment where children can explore their interests, develop essential skills, and enhance their understanding of STEM topics.
This project is pretty special to me because this is when I realised it's about solving the problem, not the complexity of the solution. Epic Ease was a project that implemented a customized template to create User Stories that better suited our client's requirements, streamlining the process for the business team to map out user flows rapidly. This move cut down feedback time by ~30%, enhancing overall efficiency. Not only did the template benefit the business team, but it also facilitated clearer understanding of user flows for the development team.

I took the initiative of building this application when I was pulled into a team to solve an issue I had already solved as a part of another project. Bugs Eye was a 3-tier web application I built to simplify bug tracking and more specifically bug resolution tracking, resulting in an impressive 80% reduction in rework across teams. This project focused on making the bug management process more straightforward, helping teams identify and fix issues faster. The outcome was a more collaborative work environment where everyone could contribute to improving project quality and meeting deadlines.

Stride is an Augmented Reality Android application currently in development that revolutionizes training for engineers. It utilises 3-D models and animations projected in AR, that can help train individuals in any practical training you can think of! Tailored to the needs of Department of Defense (DOD) professionals, STRIDE currently focuses on providing training for microgrid setup and maintenance activities. But its not just that, the application is built in a way that it is easily scalable beyond just the microgrid training and can easily incorporate any practical training experience.
Fit Fusion is an android mobile application my team and I built to provide users with a personalised fitness experience. The app syncs with an android wearbale device to monitor health metrics while the user is working out and adjusts the remaining workout routine in real-time to suit his/her requirements. For instance, if your heart rate suddenly goes up, the app tells you to take a break. And if you're finding the workout easy, it makes it harder to keep up with your level.
I took charge of revamping our LEPAS web presence, giving it a fresh new look and feel. The focus was on making the user experience smoother, and the results spoke for themselves – a 20% increase in course enrollments. This redesign not only brought the platform up to date but also made the entire process more user-friendly and accessible, creating a positive impact on user engagement.
I led the development of this Symposium website, aiming to elevate our event promotion game. The outcome was fantastic – a ~50% increase in reservations compared to our previous methods, highlighting a marked improvement in conversion rates. The website made it easy and enjoyable for potential attendees to sign up, which helped make the symposium a success. Notably, this project was completed just within a few days, covering everything from idea conceptualization, pitching it to my lead, UI design, development, testing, and deployment.
